Reviews....gotta do some...

Sun Jun 21, 2009, 10:54 PM
Ok, so I tend to not review things for the sake of peddling my 'opinion' on others...but I must this instant press my opinion

First up Manga: I must recommend a recently read title, Higurashi a manga based on a PC game its a Horror/Mystery and its not bad, the first two novels are set up with just little 'hints' to the real story...something strange is brewing in a tiny Japanese village and newly city transplated Kenichi is set smack dab in the middle of it..five boisterous, and ditzy...and etc (the fanservice is minimal, in the first one, lots of big boob jokes though)

Second up Books: Ok now I know some of you are like 'books?' what be this book? well lets say for the arguement you still read something off screen... and not counting text books... yanno something with more words then pictures basically...not manga... then you might be interested in the following novel series by one S.M. Stirling...a master of the alternate histories and war themed stories he tackles a new source of inspiration.. in the series

The Change: the book starts in 1998 a horrific unexplained event sweeps across the world erasing the fundamentals of technology based societies... ie no COMPUTERS, no DS's NO X-BOX360! GASP! I know unbelievable right... well this is a "What if" type of story... it takes place in the Pacific Northwest, specifically Oregon to start... the survivors begin the arduous task of scraping out an existence in this world...there's trouble afoot... a madman in Portland is gathering soldiers to take land and form his own kingdom and he has his sights set on the valley where the heroes set up shop. All in all, this is a great book, for those of you believing anything in "What if" type scenarios...take a grain of salt with this book, while it does discuss survival traits and combat tactics for Mediveal warfare... THIS ISN'T a survival guide in case 2012. Dec 21 turns out to be a earth altering event! Its still a story... a very riviting one at that... there's five books so far in the series each set moving further and further into the years after the Change...as it is dubbed..

Next up Music: I got the latest Black Eyed Peas abulm, normally I'm not one to give into hype but after listening to this album I found a lot of good songs in there, and it makes me smile a bit more... so I think it was worth it.

Finally Games: I can't get enough of games like Disgaea DS and other RPG's that have a brilliant dose of sillyness and fun in them, and a non limit level like 99 please that was so 1997 ago....! Sadly I don't have any new games beside Disgaea which is totally awesome dood! But I have sampled a few... and I sampled Dark Knight Asylum...which strangely is addicting... I guess pummeling badguys and psychophants... I tried Halo Wars...confusing... and not accustomed to the controller set up... but after a few moments... I finally got going... it plays rather well I think... though I still like using mouses for RTS games...

Why no movies you may ask? well damnit I'm not gonna pay 10bucks for a ticket to a movie lemme tell you... its disgraceful...

Any way that's all I got...

  • Reading: Dies the Fire by S.M. Sirling
